What do we mean by “solo”?  “Making love with Silence”

How patterns can be put together in order to create the right vocal band to support a solo.
Participants are invited to perform solos on a foundation of vocal patterns. Silence is an extremely important ingredient! How much space do you give to Silence in improvisation? The exercises proposed focus on developing one’s listening skills. We will explore patterns and melodies with pauses at specific points in the measure, so that musical ideas unfold in an unconventional way. Time management and the use of the voice more like an instrument, will be improved using the concepts of The Orchestra in the Mouth and some suggestions from the EVT vocal tecnique. 
Another aspect that will be consider is how to go from one improvisation to another, with good transitions… through Silence.

I have given this workshop already in several forms and durations. From 90 minutes (at the TIN Festival in Düsseldorf 2023), to a full day or a two-day workshop, like we will do in Bruxelles on next January 13-14.  I warmly invite you to join us in Bruxelles.
